    Would an open university accounting qualification where they cter for the UK market be relevant to starting a career in the business here.

    Probably not the best place to post this. Under the business - Accountancy section would get more responses.

    To answer your question, it depends what you are hoping to achieve. If like many who do accountancy degrees you want to do professional exams then you need to check what professional exemptions you get with the degree. An e-mail to the OU or ACCA will give you the relevant information. There may be exemptions from ACA but you would need to check this with the ICAI.

    If it is just a qualification you are after then an English qualification would be considered a similar standard to an Irish one.
