    hi there

I ve been training for the Clontarf 1/2 marathon for a good while but 10 day ago I got the flu (or something like it), I had to stop running since until yesterday, when I did 5k at a slow pace
I feel ok, but not great to be honest, but I was really missing running. I dont have fever or headaches, but I do cough (dry) now and then

    The question is

    a) how can I know if I m ready run the 1/2 marathon next sunday?
    b) say I want to try, what would be the best training strategy then ? I was thinking run 7 miles friday and maybe try 10 on sunday and then taper, this will tell me if I can run the distance and give me plenty rest time

I m drinking loads of water and early nights, etc. I would love to run it

Note: I did see the doctor about a week ago, I got antibiotics and I was told to take them if I didnt feel good the next day, but i did , so I recovered on my own

I think your strategy (b) is a good one. You'll know after Sunday's long run whether or not you're recovered. If you struggle I'd say just leave it and target another one in a few weeks time.
