03 Nissan Micra - Window Wipers with mind of their own

    Hey there,

    Ive a mad problem going on with the window wipers in a 03 micra, we could be driving along at any time and the wipers just start going themselves!

    We first noticed this after a heavy rain shower when we turned the wipers off they just kicked back in again, The switch is in the off position and no matter how i turn the switch the wipers wont turn off (they will speed up) we noticed that when going around a roundabout or taking a sharp turn that the wipers stop but when the car straightens out they turn on again. This doesnt happen all the time but seems to happen no again and again in wet or dry conditions, its very annoying when its dry and they are squeeking along for half an hour.

    Any ideas before I go back to nissan with it?

    Sounds like a bad electrical connection somewhere, a wire rubbing against something.

    Thanks for coming back to me, it seems like a common problem when I search it online but nobody can say if its part x or y with the problem... very frustrating.

    Yeah seems to be a variety of reasons:
    Washer pump motor
    Body Control Module
    Rain Sensor

    Start with the sensor, if you have one. Clean it and also the window in front of it.

    thanks again, i appreciate you coming back so quickly...

    My car doesnt have auto sensing wipers, the washer pump seems a likely culpret... ill get it checked out

    Didi you ever get this sorted? I the same problem last year, the reason it stops on roundabouts etc is because your indicator is on, thats what ive figured out anyway.
    When it happened me I brought it back to the dealer as it was under warranty. He replaced the washer pump.
    But its started up again, ive taken out the fuse for the pump and it still happens so its certainly not that. Im thinking its the wiper relay now but I havent troubleshooted this yet.
