    hey guys
I may have to get the train to cork and a bus on to kinsale this sunday.

I finish work at 4 in dun laoghaire but could probably get a guy to cover me from 2. I'd get a lift to heuston and get the 15:00 train to cork. arriving at 17:45. A bus leaves Parnell place (which is right beside Cork Kent station, which I assume is the one Irish rail mean) at 18:00 arriving in Kinsale at 18:45.

How does that sound to you guys? a bit tight or ok?

kent is not right beside parnell Place, its probably a 10 minute walk, maybe more.

You would need to allow yourself a good 10 minutes to walk to the bus station from Kent Railway Station

ok thanks for that, and what are the chances of the train actually being on time?

I've emailed a taxi firm, but would anyone have any idea off hand how much a taxi would be from cork kent to kinsale?

reasonable, there is a huge amount of padding built into the timetable to make the statistics look good.

I've been on many a train that has arrived a few minutes early but also some that were a few minutes late. I haven't been to Cork in a while but the last time I was there you had to exit through the main station (there was side access that you could use before) If you are nearer the front of the train you will get out faster. Are you familiar at all with the location of the two (have a look at Google maps if not and at least you will know where you are going)

I'm no help I'm afraid as to how much a taxi would cost but it's about 29 km of a journey. Not sure if it's something for you and may be a stupid suggestion but perhaps a taxi to the airport is apx 9 km and then get the bus from the airport to Kinsale (I see that the 18.00 bus to Kinsale is at Cork airport at 18.14)

Edited had miles instead of km :p

Thanks holidaygirl, not familiar with the area at all, had a look at google maps but will study it on street view before hand. I did notice the timing of the bus at the airport but I haven't a clue where I'd be let off and where I'd find the bus... It's a good idea all right though, will look into it further

Hopefully the train will be a few minutes early and you'll get the bus without much hazzle.

When you come out of the station if you keep to the left there is side pedestrian/cyclist exit from the station via a ramp quickest exit.

Cork airport is not very big at all nice & compact in fact, perhaps give Bus Eireann or the airport a call and have checked where the bus stop is. I would imagine it is very close to where a taxi would drop off.

Alternatively get the half-hourly 226 from Kent Station or Parnell Place Bus Station to the Airport and get a taxi to Kinsale from there.

    Timetable is here.
