Disability allowance-process for visiting doctors

    Hello,

    I have a question regarding the disability allowance process.I know that I have to fill out the form and ask my GP to fill out part of it too,then send it in to be processed.Will the people who are examining the application form have the right to reject the application and not send me through to be checked by the Social Welfare doctor OR does everyone automatically have the right to be seen to?


    Then when I go to this doctor assigned by Social Welfare will this SW doctor then ring my normal GP to get more information on my condition?

    None of this information is actually given on the SW website.:(

    It would be gr8 if someone could help.I am in the Galway city area:o

    In the first instance, claimants must produce certified medical evidence which outlines various aspects of their medical condition. In all cases an assessment is made by Departmental Medical Assessors of the evidence submitted, supplemented if necessary by a separate medical examination to determine the nature and extent of the disability and its effect on the person's capacity to work.

    I permit my doctor to provide you, the Department of Social Protection, with medical
    information that may be required for my application for Disability Allowance.


    I copied this statement from the disability allowance application form,so you are giving the dept permission to gather all nessary info regarding your claim from your gp.
