Transfer of tax credits

    I'm gonna be finished my job in 2 weeks. Is it possible to transfer my tax credits to my wife until i source new employment. Thanks

    It is. Ring the Revenue and request they transfer all available credits to your wife. Ensure they do so on a week 1 basis. This will prevent the credits from backdating to 01/01. You don't want that to happen, as your wife would then be allocated credits you've already used. You'd likely end up with an underpayment then at the end of the year.

    Yip. If you were to do it before you're finished, a new cert would be sent on to your employer, with the reduced credits on there. You're best bet is to wait until you've got your p45 from the job.

    Could the same apply to us..
    My wife is on maternity leave for over two months now and wants to stay of until janurary.. Could I avail of her credits??

    You can of course. Same as above really, request a transfer on a week 1 basis.
