I'm heading up to Arklow this weekend to visit the in-laws and considering going for a spin. Can anyone recommend any good ruotes around there. Something around the 3 hour mark.

    Thanks in advance

take the the coast road from arklow to brittas bay , left at brittas car park heading to jack whites cross, go right on to N11 for a mile, left into barndarraig village, following signs up to redcross village. straight through village leaving shop on right caravan park on left, this brings you to barraniskey, follow signs to avoca from here. enter avoca village and cross bridge then turn left, this brings you to woodenbridge and back to arklow

alternative is to enter redcross and turn right - this road also brings you to avoca - via conery - a little longer but spectacular views to west wicklow.

this gives you plenty nice coastal views, uphill and down hill, plenty flat too

    enjoy

Head inland towards Aughrim and onto Tinahely, then either Carnew or Shillelagh. Various road options. Particularly like the Tinahely Shillelagh backroads.. today followed the wicklow way on a section, returning via Coolatin. A lovely cycle.

Any road out is the best road...

Thanks for the advice. I took the coast road to brittas then up into Rathdrum. It was pretty foggy at the start but great once it cleared up. The run from Rathdrum to Avoca was fantastic

The cycle from Woodenbridge to Aughrim is very nice along the river.

Or, if you are feeling adventurous, turn acutely left in Avoca, then take the right turn after and the road seems to go up and up forever. Road eventually tops out and descends quickly towards the Aughrim / Ballinaclash road. Did it this evening. Check out elevation... :D
