    Hey there,
can anyone point me to the new location for archaeology.ie or whatever they've called the National Monumnents Section's newest website?

I can get to the mapping at www.webgis.archaeology.ie but no other parts of the archaeology.ie site seem to be accessible.

I know they are now under a new department ie dept of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht but it shouldnt mean the website is inaccessible for days...Surely its just a change of logo and dept name?

Might just ring them, need a licence app form

It should be back online soon. I heard it from the horses mouth that the site was hit by Chinese hackers who had searched Irish Government websites for keywords such as 'defense', 'defensive'...I'm sure you can see where this is going.

Seemingly they thought they were getting their hands on information about Irelands defense forces, but instead have expanded their knowledge of irish ramparts and town ditches. You have to laugh really!

Seriously!! How little do the Chinese Govt have to be doing? That's hilarious - no wonder it wasn't working the other day.

Any indication when the site might be back up?
