Any good eye shadow palette?

With a broad range of colours, naturally as cheaply as possible. Can anyone recommend one? either in the shops or on line?.

have to recommend Urban Decay, great colours and long lasting. My fave is the one below, it comes with a mini bottle of the primer potion which you can apply to your lids for longer lasting colour. think it was €36 but def worth it! it's the only eyeshadow i use

Have this and love it got rid of all my others. Costal Scents palletes are really cheap and popular with a huge rage of colours, think the 88 palette is the most popular -

Urban Decay eye shadow is amazing - I got a great value set on an Aer Lingus flight there 2 years ago... a selection of 12 (I think!) with the primer for something like 20 quid as far as I remember.

Manly 120 Eyeshadow Palette. They're available exclusively from ebay and cost from around €10+shipping (unbelievable price!) They come from China so take a few weeks to arrive. If you google them, they get some great reviews. I would love to buy it but I am one of those people who touches up their makeup throughout a night out and I don't fancy lugging around a handbag big enough to hold that palette The colours are fabulous though.



Another one I'd recommend is the NYX Makeup Artist Kit. You get 35 eyeshadows as well as lipsticks, highlighters, shaders, blushes, bronzers and brushes. I have this and the colours are really gorgeous in it. You need a good primer underneath because I find they don't last as long as a lot of the eyeshadows I have, but for the price it's great. I think I got mine for around €35. However I don't know if they sell them outside beauty supply stores. You might have some luck on ebay.

The Naked Palette is a nice one, they have it in Debenhams on Henry st. or you can order online from their website, don't think BT have Urban Decay but I may be wrong!:)

Here you go The only problem (and this is what a few of the reviewers said) is that it's very hard to verify which ones are the real deal. I'd suggest doing a bit of research first!

Definitely +1 for Urban Decay, they're by far the most pigmented eyeshadows that are easily available, and the price is reasonable. Also if you buy the individual eyeshadows (the round ones), you can pop them out and they fit into a MAC palette, which is handy.

Also if you're comfortable using loose e/s, I can't recommend Fyrinnae enough. They're super cheap and super pigmented.

I have a few of the palettes mentioned above and would recommend the 88 Ultra Shimmer Palette.

I will run through the ones I have. First off, there is no such thing as "fake" and "genuine" 88 palettes or 120 palettes. These are all manufactured in China and companies like Coastal Scents and BH Cosmetics buy them from there, stamp their name on the lid and hike up the price and shipping costs. The palettes available on Ebay are identical cheaper. There is no benefit to buying them elsewhere.

Originally there were just two 88 palettes:

1. 88 Palette (also sometimes known as the 88 Matte Palette to distinguish it from the many varations created since).
Great variety of colours. Good pigmentation and not chalky. Almost all are matte but there are some that are more of a satin. No shimmer, no glitter.


2. 88 Ultra Shimmer Palette (aka 88 Shimmer Palette).
Almost identical colours as the 88 palette but all are in a shimmer formula. No glitter but very shimmery - think metallic. Great pigmentation and unique colours. Lovely highlight shades aswell. By far my favourite of the 88 palettes though I would wear along with mattes which are not provided in this palette. You can see the colours better, up close here:

Around the same time the first 120 palette became available. Same story as the 88 palette - manufactured in China and companies like BH Cosmetics stamp their name on the lid and hike up the price. I don't think Coastal Scents stock these. Often, the ones coming from China are not blank like the 88's but instead say "Manly" on the lid

3. 120 Palette (aka 120 Pallete 1st edition / 120 Manly Palette)
This one was not as popular as the 88's but some people preferred it. I personally didn't. Pros: Great variety and more colours, mixed formulas all in one palette (matte, shimmer, glitter etc). Cons: Colour payoff not as good esp with some of the illuminous colours which are very chalky, bad packaging (2 trays on top of each other), less original colours compared with the 88 shimmer palette.


A while later a new 88 palette appeared and a while after that, another new 88 one.

4. 88 Warm Palette (aka 88 Neutral Palette)
This contains all neutrals as you'd expect. Mostly browns, some grays, golds etc. The formula is mixed matte and shimmer. I wanted to like this but the quality is not as good as the first two 88 palettes. Many of the mattes are chalky and just don't have nice/rich colour pay off. I don't like this one.



5. 88 Metal Mania
Mostly neutrals but all in a shimmer formula. Unfortunately I don't like this one either. I thought it would be like the 88 Shimmer Palette but the colours are no where near as unique. Once applied I find so many of these to have the same shade of orangey gold come out of them. If you like that shade of gold it may be ok but too many of the colours have it and I find it quite obnoxious on my pale skin. I've gotten much more use out of the two rows of brown in the 88 shimmer palette than I have gotten out of this palette at all.


Since then quite a few more palettes have appeared with names such as 88 mirage palette, 88 prism palette, 88 cool matte palette, 88 cool shimmer palette, 88 tropical matte palette, 88 tropical shimmer palette along with a 2nd and 3rd edition of the 120 palette. It can all get very confusing and I'm not too interested in any more 88 palettes based on the last two I got. I think the originals may still be the best.

I also have the Urban Decay Naked Palette which is very nice but if you're just getting started and looking for a wide range of colours (naked palette is all neutrals) I would go with the 88 shimmer palette. Its also a fair bit cheaper. I think the formula is actually quite similar (on application at least, I can't judge on how it lasts as I've only worn the UD colours along with my Mac ones). I dont like the random glitter in some urban decay eyeshadows as it tends to fall out. Lastly, the 88 palettes are not as good as Mac in terms of blending, lasting and building but they are very good and very very cheap in comparison.

I have a load of those ebay palettes and the quality is really good. Specifically the 28 neutral which have a lot of mac dupes and the 120, didn't like the 88 so much (I own a **** tonne of eyeshadow, as you can see). Don't go near coastal scents, its the same as the ebay stuff but way more expensive.

I agree with crayolastereo, Coastel Scents buy in the palettes from Hong Kong and slap their own name on them and sell them for a percentage dearer! I've got a couple of the palettes from ebay and they are perfect little things especially if you're going on a trip.

Does anyone know how to link an 02 prepaid visa card to paypal?how to transfer money from the card to pay pal? it say's to provide bank details but the card , as with 3v , doesn't belong to a bank? If I can manage that I'll buy the Hong Kong option!.

Incidentaly do people think that bright colours can ever suit pale skin?.

This is what I do when adding a 3v/Visa debit card to my paypal account.

1. When you get to the homepage after logging in scroll over to the Profile tab and it gives you an option to add/edit credit card.. Click on that option.
2. The it will ask you to add your credit card so just enter the voucher number and other details into the specified places and make sure to click Visa if you have a 3v card.
3. After doing that it should make it your primary card and you don't have to transfer your money into paypal.

After using the elf everyday brights for a while now, I don't think I'd recommend them. I mean, yeah they're cheap moneywise but also in terms of quality. I think the 10 euro they cost would be better put towards a similar palette like an urban decay one.
they don't have chunks of glitter or anything but there's something in them...When I wear them, I have to build them up quite a bit and there's a lot of fallout. It feels like grit on my eyeballs and it really hurts!
However, that's mainly with the neutral colours and some of the silvery ones. The blue/green toned ones are the best and I do get quite a bit of use from those. The pinks are fine (as in they don't have the grit) but they can be really pale.
I'm really interested in the 88 shimmer palette now after reading the reviews.

Sorry I haven't used that one. I've heard a little of it though and I think it's been around as long as the first two 88 palettes but wasn't as popular which I could only imagine means it's not as good. I'm just guessing that though and could be wrong. BTW the two blush/contour palettes sold on coastal scents are also available unbranded on ebay cheaper if you were interested in that side of things

Urban decay have a palette called the Eyeshadow Ammo palette, small, compact, mirror built in. 10 shadows - 4 neutrals, white highlighter, black for smokey eyes, and 4 colours. Super easy to use, blend themselves practically. Perfect combination of colours, perfect for throwing in your bag, fantastic quality. I've had mine for nearly a year and I haven't reached the pan in any of them yet despite using it 5 days out of seven of each week. A little really goes a long way.



I've got the 120 palette from ebay because I couldn't resist the bargain.. and tbh, even the €13 I spent was a waste. Maybe I have sensitive eyes (yet I've never had any problems with other cheap shadows..) but these shadows made my eyes water and stream the whole night. I eventually had to take them off with a wipe in the middle of the evening. Colours were difficult to blend and were chalky and badly packed. Dust everywhere and the shadows were easily broken. I think you'd be better off paying a little bit more and going for something that will last you and will work easily for you with minimal effort.

I have that palette too; it's brilliant.

Cara Pharmacy is a great place to buy Urban Decay palettes - they are around €25 in there as opposed to other places where I've seen them sold for over €30. There's shops in Sligo, Donegal, and Cavan, but I'm not sure about other places.

Hiya I recently ordered a palette by Sleek makeup for under 7 Euro and it's pretty decent I got the iDivine Acid palette. The colours are pretty bright but there's other ones that are neutral or smokey eyes... they have loads! I bought mine from Ebay and including shipping it cost me 8.50 I would have bought it online from their store but shipping is ridiculous at 9 euro.

Haha! Before I got it I thought it was going to be one of those over rated palettes that aren't actually as good as everyone kept saying but 5 mins after I got it I was hooked!! I never go for neutrals, I either go for brights or darks. I'm hooked on Urban Decay at the minute :D

Have to agree with the poor reviews for the ELF palettes - now I got mine free with an order but even free it's a disappointment. Shadows are chalky, don'y blend well, lot of fallout - waste of time.

I have two of their mineral powder shadows, they are pretty good. For palettes, I pick my own 4x ones from MAC.

Aaah i'm waiting on my elf order at the minute and only bought the palette cos it was half price!!! I hope its ok, but have to say i love love my urban decay palettes, they are brill but i must invest in the naked palette
