    Hummmm
I have a HD box and cancelled the HD sub after 12months, I wonder could I avail of this offer?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,885 ✭✭✭Tzardine

Deal also works for new customers. Slightly different though. You get the free box and free install but if you take sports / movies you get half price on everything for first 3 months , PLUS €25 credit on account.

Lol I should have cancelled and re signed up

Actually to clarify , its 180 hours in HD or 550 hours in standard !!! or obviously a combo of both

I think Anytime takes up half of that though

Can confirm that the box is 1TB and its 750GB available for personal use from which the recording times above are applicable.

Dam anytime sucking up 250 GB of space. Thats madness , but i suppose i can fit enough on the 750 GB ;)

You can turn off anytime, can you use the space then?

Half price for 12 months is the best deal you will get ,no doubt about that .
I'm on that myself and its still overpriced at that in my opinion.

    No.

The disk is partitioned so you can't use the Anytime portion for personal use.

This doesn't seem to work on Sky+ SD as the percentage of free user space doesn't change. However, it does get rid of the programs off the Anytime list. Interesting.

id be very happy with half price of my sky package for 12 months
they werent offering me anything decent when i cancelled skysp+
espn thus reducing by bill from 82 to 29 for a few months

been with them for years and when i said to them that id be
better off cancelling and getting the wife to sign up and
get the freebie a new customers get
they said they would give me the sky hd box plus install for free
didnt get it yet but its there whenever i want it
dont have a phoneline though so ill get caught to the tune of 37euro
or order to get a manual enablement device put in (at least thats
what it sounded like over the fone)
amazing what they offer when you are about to leave them

There are only two combinations of Sky+HD box:

    1) The standard Sky+HD box comes with a 500GB hard drive, which is split 50:50 to give 250GB for user recordings and 250GB for Sky Anytime. 250GB gives you up to 60 hours of HD recording, 180 hours of SD recording or a combination of both.

    2) The premium Sky+HD 1TB box, for which there is normally a charge of €249 (sometimes €149) has a 1.5TB hard drive which is split 1TB for the user and 500GB for Anytime. This gives four times the user storage, so up to 240 hours of HD, 720 hours of SD or a combination of both.

Turning Anytime off does not free up the Anytime reserved space for personal use.

If the offer you've posted is for a Sky+HD 1TB then that is a damn sweet deal you've got! :)

I was told you aren't a new customer in that case. Not for 12 months anyway. I remember someone having hassle when they moved into a house and tried to get sky as a new customer (which they were) but couldn't because the previous owner had sky. (not sure how it finished though)

Why exactly do you need a phoneline? I was under the impression that it used the minidish (They still call it that, right?) for everything. Even if we had a phoneline installed, it'd be of essentially no use due to the fact our street's line can't support decent broadband.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,003 ✭✭✭✭mailburner

I know when i first joined sky i had to have it hooked up to
the foneline for the first 12 months and it was in the terms and con
I took out the foneline and within a couple of days sky were ringing
me to put in back in
nothing to do with broadband which i should be able to receive
where i live when im dead and gone at the rate its moving
it might be so you can order extra stuff when the line is connected afaik.

Damn...missed out on this by a day...gonna ring up and try and get it!
