    People,

for some reason, my back gears seem to 'jump' some times, could there be something wrong with my set up or am I just not used to the bike?

is there a 'rule' on what front gear uses which back gears? is tere a specific way to change gear

PS: the chain actually came off the back large sprocket and the front small on at one stage, this wasnt a hop tho, as I changed gear

You might need a slight adjustment on the cable going to the rear derailer. Turn the bike over to rest on the saddle and handlebars then spin the wheel using the pedal. You should see the chain running nicely on the centre of the rear cassette gears, if the chain is running to one side it will cause the chain to hop. Adjust the tension on the cable to fix.

Yep +1 on above comment.Had an issue with mine too, middle gears slipping under no great stress.turned the bike upside down and just adjusted the tension on the back derailluer as I pedalled with the other hand.sorted my probem and might help you too.

Its a new bike innit? Time to take it back for its first service. The shop probably said they'd do the first one free.

Edit: I see in the other thread you only got the bike on friday. The shop may not have adjusted them properly when handing over the bike.

if its a new bike , give the cables a tug then twist the barrel adjuster to take the slack off the cable , may just need a slight adjustment in front changer
