Quick reference question

Hi, I'm a Chemistry graduate who's just after completing my masters degree in a specialist area.

It's my first time officially doing out a Scientific CV and I just had a question regearding references. Many of the templates I've found just have "references available upon request".

Is this acceptable or would it be better to include references outright?

    Thanks in advance.

If I'm currently in a job and my manager wasn't aware I was looking elsewhere, I'd put "References available on request" - it gives you time to give people the heads up to expect a call/mail, and is perfectly acceptable.

If you referees know that you're job hunting and are expecting it, go ahead and give their details, as long as they don't fall off onto an additional page.

    Brilliant, thanks very much.

i read recently that even putting 'reference available upon request' is a waste of a line. Its expected that your references are available if the prospective employer asks for them so really you dont need to say it at all.
Use the line on your resume for something that sells you..
