Strong high pressure is in control, causing temperatures to soar well above average, and even nearing records! An Excessive Heat Warning is in effect today from 10am-8pm and again on Thursday, from Phoenix, down toward Yuma. There's also a Heat Advisory in effect for southeast Arizona from noon-7pm. We're expecting to reach 113 for a high in Phoenix today, which is well above the normal high of 106, and close to the record of 116 in 1988. Thursday's high of 112, will near the record of 116 in 1974.

Thought that was normal temperatures for the valley this time of the year. I experienced 105 (40.5°C) in Phoenix last year... in October!
