Thinking of getting a few Wireless Sennheisers...what's legal in Ireland?

830 - 870 (range of some models varies slightly)
Keep in mind DTT is about to eat up much of that band, leaving only a small 3Mhz section available for non-licensed kit (860 - 863 I think)

    From ComReg:
"ComReg is developing its plans for the liberalisation of the 900 MHz and 1800 MHz frequency bands currently used for the provision of second-generation (2G) GSM-based mobile services to consumers. The 790 – 862 MHz band will become available as part of the Digital Dividend when analogue switch off (“ASO”) occurs in Ireland, due to take place in Quarter 4 of 2012. ComReg intends to release spectrum in the 800 MHz and 900 MHz bands in a simultaneous competition."

    Check www.comreg.ie for more details.

Received this from one of the dealers recently. Seems channel 70 is still available.
In response to the impending need for Irish wireless microphone and in-ear monitor users to move from Channel 69
    (854-862 MHz) to Channel 38 (606-614 MHz),
    Sennheiser Ireland
is pleased to announce the full availability of its
    new
    Evolution G3, 2000, 3000 & 5000
    Series will now work in
    Channel 38.

Trying to sell a few bits of kit.
As previously stated, Channel 69 remains available nationally for
wireless microphone use and continues to be licensable. However, the
current Comreg timetable will see access to channels 61-69 inclusive
(790-862 MHz) cease during 2012. This means that any Channel 69
equipment purchased now will have a steadily reducing window of
usability for most of its tuning range, with just over two years the
longest period for which it will continue to be usable.

    However....
863-865 MHz (two MHz of Channel 70) will continue to be available for use by ‘wireless audio devices’ after 2012.
This will support a maximum of six wireless microphone links (subject to range variant and local conditions), but is
generally not considered suitable for professional use.
Channel 38 (606-614 MHz) has been assigned by Comreg as the replacement band for Channel 69, however some
geographical restrictions on its use currently apply. In these areas it is supplemented, where available, with
additional spectrum in Channels 39 or 40.

Why it's not considered for professional use I really don't know! Because 6 channels isn't enough? How far apart do channels need to be for a wireless system?

Thanks for the detailed replies lads.

I hve the EW100 handheld mic and it's a brilliant mic although I have not used it much since I got it.
I am now intending on using it quiet a bit along with another wirless mic to go with it and trying to decide what SENNHEISER model to go for.

I also have a Sony EX3 and done a wedding recently where a wireless lav would have come in very usefull.

Thats why I am thinking of the SENNHEISER sk100 g3 WIRELESS body pack system but asking the obvious....can you plug the receiver into a Dynacord and use it for live events too?

The Sennheiser ew 100-ENG G3 E-Band Wireless system is alos for sale on ebay and I like the fact it includes a plug in transmitter to turn a wired mic into a wireless one with the system too.

I can see where the frequencies limit of six channels will exclude it from Pro setups.
