Great goal (if only for the handpass rule)

Such a pity the goal described in linked article below didn't happen a few years earlier. One of the greatest soccer goals I'v seen in soccer or GAA was disallowed because of the handpass rule. At that it was Aidan O'Shea on the ground handpassing to Mortimer that was ruled against it, how do you make a clear striking action if you're falling over or on the ground?
I was in McHale park that day behind Mortimer as he hit it, there was stunned silence for a second to comprehend the goal. Then dissappointment as it turned out it wouldn't stand.
My memory (hope someone has a youtube or rte archive of it) is that the ball dropped to Mortimer from a reasonable height, Mortimer was facing towards the endline roughly 25+ yards from goal at an angle.
He very calmly (and that was the bizarre bit) volleyed it high and on the turn toward the goal. So you got to see him making a striking action and turning well before the ball was down to him, I remember thinking why is he moving? The way he turned on the shot he was trying to put the ball from right to left (like you would strike in GAA for a point). The ball went from right to left on a level trajectory into the side netting of the Monaghan goal. Actually hit the side netting!! To add to it, it didn't go like a bullet just medium paced, the suprise of it and path it took meant the goalie couldn't get to it, twas outside his reach.
Was anyone else there that there to confirm my contention that it was a moment of genius? I thought it deserved it's own thread as only for the handpass rule it puts itself up there as being the greatest piece of goalscoring in an inter county match. Had everything, creativity, athleticism (he caught it high), accuracy, distance from goal, difficulty of the shot, deliberatedness of the effort (he deliberately for instance caught it high and turned with his strike).

    Article which also mentioned goal:

Conor Mortimer who didn't make the same impression as he did the week before, thought he had grabbed Mayo's third goal of the game a couple of minutes later after he applied the most delicate of finishes to the ball after catching it full on the volley. Aidan O'Shea had made a break for the goal, before he was closed down by the Monaghan defence, he lost his footing and from the deck hand passed the ball to Mortimer who arrowed it to the net. But the celebration was short lived, as O'Shea was deemed to have fouled the ball.

RTE didn't show it at the time as they wouldn't have shown disallowed scores in a league match against Monaghan.
Show pony right, post 2 and already we get to that. I'm neutral on Conor Mortimer, yes he may have a big ego but I don't care so do most sportsmen.
'Youtube link or it didn't happen'. So a reporter from a newspaper just decided to make up the piece about the 'delicate volley' that was disallowed?
Maybe there's a chance Mortimer did something skillful.

    Folks,

No need to use derogatory remarks towards each other, if you want a video link, as nicely, no need for anything else.
