Hi, I need to find work experience in the accounting/finance field. I will be going into my fourth year in college and I was told that unless I get work experience I will be joining the dole queue. I'm not looking to be paid or anything and it could only be for a week or even a month or two. I've tried everywhere and was hoping someone might know a firm that might take on students for work experience during the summer. Any help really appreciated!

Hand your CV's into accountancy firms. I just finished fourth year and during the summer of first year I got one months work experience with an accountancy firm in Cork city. Go through the phonebook, make a list and call into them. I take it your course doesn't have a placement programme?

No we don't have any placement in our course. I'm running out of places to hand CVs into, I've handed in loads but no luck.

That's a pity. You might have done this already... But how about multi nationals like the accounts dept of pharmaceutical companies and IT companies (EMC etc.) or irish ones like Dairygold.

    Best of luck.
