    No.
The only way to record it is either keep your sky box on ch5 and connect to an old fashioned VCR/DVD recorder for an old fashioned cumbersome manual recording or if you have a freesat + box or if you have a UK freeview pvr and can get ch5 digitally terrestrially via an aerial [near the NI border mostly and along the East coast south of Dublin].

Can you get Sky Sports 1HD,2HD,3HD,4HD, National Geographic, Nat Geo Wild, All the Discovery channels, Sky Atlantic, SyFy, Comedy Central, Sky Movies, all the music channels, Eurosport, ESPN, History Channel or Animal Planet? No! Wow FTA sounds fairly sh!t for my viewing needs.

OP there is no way to get a sky box to record channel 5 or any channel on the "Other Channels" menu.
Ignore the crap from the poster above. FTA maybe fine for him but its crap to most.

You can record Channel 5 *if* you have a Freesat-from-Sky(FSFS)/Free-to-view(FTV) card as per this thread.

I don't see anybody telling you to get Freesat.

You just need any active Sky card, you're basically tricking the box into recording 'other channels'-it's a bit fiddly but it works.

@fabsoul-Why is it that every time somebody asks a simple question regarding Sky,somebody pops up with the same line-"ditch Sky and get freesat"? The op asked about Sky,not about Freesat. What's the point in posting replies if they are unhelpful at best?

It's not what it costs you but rather cost versus value. For you, you weren't getting the value from it. For many of us we are and freesat just doesn't have the programs or hd.

Any active card will work for channels such as ITV2 which appear on the default EPG.

However, to record Channel 5, you must have a current or expired FTV card as well in order to get Channel 5 to appear on the EPG.

Costs me a fortune per year. But its money well spent in my eyes. One months Sky is equal to one night on the town. Id gladly sacrifice one night out to have sky for a month.
