    Not sure about chemical, but for software or electronic engineers I get the impression there is a bit of feeling that joining Engineers Ireland doesn't seem to have much benefit. Like being a chartered engineer doesn't seem to actually get you anything. It's not like you're a civil engineer who must be chartered in order to sign off on the safety of a bridge they have built.
