Using Eircom Netopia as Wireless Access Point

    Hi Guys,

I'm new here and this is my first post. I've had a search through the forum and haven't found a solution to my dilemma elsewhere, if I missed it my apologies and I hope someone will direct me to a solution.

    Anyway here goes...

Briefly: I want to use my PC as the router/modem (Internet Connection Sharing possibly?) and connect my Netopia via Ethernet and then use it only as a WAP using the PC as a gateway.

A bit more detail?: I have a PC running Win7. I have a meteor dongle connected to it, I can use ICS on the PC and connect my laptop direct to the PC via ethernet and it works. I want to connect the laptop wirelessly, so I connect the netopia 3347 to the PC and set it up in pass through so that it uses the PC as the internet gateway, when I run diagnostics it comes back with no connection. so I'm not having much luck. Anyone have any ideas?

I may be making a b@lls of the config so let me know if you have set this successfully previously or if you need more info.

I look forward to your responses.

    Cheers

You need to login to the Netopia and disable DHCP so your pc handles it, also turn off the firewall and disable NAT
