    Hi There ...
If you leave a job of your own accord I think you have to wait 6 weeks before you can claim JSA ... I'm not 100% sure on the specifics but I know for certain that you can't claim it straight away unless you've been made redundant or your in a contract position that has run out ...

I was thinking off telling dole office it was only temporary but say to the company i have a new job? can the dole office ask the company?

This is harsh but can you do it in a way that's not frauding the tax payers? That kind pee's me off. Maybe stick it out for a few weeks and save?

Its called work...... I would say 90% of the population at one stage or another get depressed at work.

Also it will look bad on your CV to resign without another job to go to. Stick it out 6 months, then job hunt. Its always easier to Find a Job when you have a Job.

I would think thye can ask the company and it will not look good on you if you are found out.....either by your employer or the dole office.

What is the problem with the job? maybe you could get some advice here on how to deal with that?

    This.

Unfortunately, in adult life, most of the population has to work for a living, and while we may not always jump with enthusiasm at the thought of heading into work for the day, we can't simply quit because we don't like it and expect to become a burden on the state.

Don't abuse job seekers allowance. There are people out there who are putting hours every day into trying to find a job just so they can get off the dole. There are others out there who have been laid off and many who simply weren't eligible for the dole to begin with. Then there are people like you who have a job but because you don't enjoy it, find it perfectly acceptable to quit and lie your way into claiming benefits.

    Don't do it, OP.

Also, I can guarantee you that your company will be contacted by the dole office to see why your term there has ended.

sometimes jobs aren't enjoyable until you become good at them. and in 5 weeks, while it might seem like a lifetime, you have just about tested the water. stick it out until, let's say, your course starts in september, if your mood improves then great. if you still feel the same way, at least you will have gained experience somewhere, which is a lot more impressive to an employer than someone who quit because they didn't want to slug it out. if a better opportunity comes along, by all means, go for it. but you're not doing yourself any favours by choosing to go on jsa.

Step back from the issue for a second and try to think objectively.

Whats do you hate about your job? If you can identify this then you can work at resolving it.

Is it a narky boss? You could work at developing patience and dealing with others/managing upwards.

Is the work too difficult? Take it as a challenge. We never grow unless we push outside our comfort zone.

Try your best. worst case scenario is you get laid off. you will be on the dole queue but at least you have done your best and you can hold your head high.

I recommend you look into why you are depressed. Talk to someone, a professoinal perhaps, or read a book. I got "when panic attacks" by David Burns. It helps you deal with why you are anxious, panicy, depressed etc.

Its not a big book and in simple terms it helps you develop coping skills. A must for anyone with depression.

Dont just give up, your depression wins then, and you irrational thoughts will have beaten you.

You are not your depression, or your irrational self deprecating thoughts. good luck.

5 weeks of work has brought on "depression"? Maybe you shouldn't belittle the term "depression" and instead say you "have the blues" or "I'm having a tough time having responsibilities".

Don't quit your job. You're thinking about a course that starts in a month and a half? Sounds like you want to get back on the dole and are telling yourself you will do a course when really, at the back of your mind you know you've left it too late.
