heres one for ye lads ,
i have been running a larsen trap in my garden for the last couple of months with the same decoy ,

he/she has accounted for 31 of his buddies;) ,last sunday he made a break for freedom by squeezing through the chicken wire and making a small hole bigger into the catch comp without setting it off and flying away
"right says i fair play to him he's done his bit "time to get a new decoy
   ...

so i left the trap set more out of habit then anything else, this morning just before going to work i copped a magpie in the trap ,

turns out to be my mag (his tail feathers were all frayed from being in the trap ) after coming back and getting caught again ,,,guess the board and lodgings is better here than in the wild :D:D

    Nice one :D

I hope my greycrow is as foolish. Took a fresh caught one out of the Larsen and put him into the new Ladder. All I'll say is 16" x 3" is too generous for the ladder dimensions :o

No, it's 3 alright. The rungs in my ladder are 16 inches across and 3 inches apart (wide). I didn't think he'd get out through it but he went from one side to the other then straight up and out just like that.

I'm going to put a long dowel or board right down the middle of the ladder and try again with the next fella :o

Done that myself just a while ago, had a couple of wires along the ladder in the last trap.

Next lad goes in the Larsen will see the Ladder...

(bringing the shotgun this time, just in case :pac: )

thanks johngalway for all the info in the posts and threads on ladder traps ,i recently finished one 8foot by 6 and had the first clear out today of 30 birds rooks greys and mags on a local farm , i was delighted to see so many in it after 5 days they had been coming and going . ive already had a request from a greyhound man to place it on his ground . its only wooden with chicken wire and after seeing the weld mesh one will definatly make one .
