    Hey guys,

I have watched the auction there twice this month and am considering buying a car from the auction.

    Any tips?

    Any advice?

Anyone recommend any decent mechanics who will come with me to the auction to check the car out?

Yes you are better off buying a car on Donedeal or a private seller.

Thanks for all the talking in code?

Can anyone give me some proper information rather than hints?

Proper trade prices used to be the order of the day a few years ago at the auction there but the last few times ive been, it has been a joke. Too many private buyers willing to pay far too close to retail for what at the end of the day is a purchase with significant risk involved.
Sure, the cars might look cheap versus sticker prices that dealer might be displaying however if you go into a dealer without a trade in and willing to drive a hard bargain, significant reductions can be had and you will be getting warranty etc.
The only benefit of the auction over a private sale is that you can be sure there are no finance issues against the title of the car. The disadvantages compared to a private sale are numerous so you really are better buying privately.
Also, you can easiily be made a fool of at auction, paying way over the odds if auctioneer sees the newbie head bidding. he will likely run the price up alot. Will you know if he is taking pretend bids from the back of the hall just to get you to reserve price for example or maybe the car owner and mates are bidding against you. You really need to know the familiar faces out there, see what they are up to, what type of stuff they are bidding on - same faces are there each auction.
