Amy - PSN Survival Horror

Amy is a survival horror that will be released on the PSN later this summer. Apparently it is approx 8 hours long and could be released as a full price title but the devs think if they release it as a budget PSN title, then more people will try it and seeing how it goes, they could make a sequel on a full release title. Sounds like an interesting idea...

Anyway, you play as Lana, a woman escorting a young girl, Amy, through a virus ridden city where everyone is turning into zombies/monsters. Amy has a power that can heal and reverse the virus effects. Holding Amy's hands heals you and lets you escort her around.

When I heard this I was a bit worried and kept thinking of the the escort part of Silent Hill: The Room which was just awful but according to previews at E3, this system is actually very fluid and works well. There is combat but the game concentrates on more survival horror than combat horror.

Unless it gets awful reviews, I will be picking this up when it comes out, anyone else interested?

I'm one of those people that think escort missions in games are a pain in the ass, but I like the sound of this. Could be good!

Aw ya, hate escort missions in any game so i'm weary of it but great seeing survival horror having a proper go at it! You have an indicator on your back and the colour shows how far infected you are. Lana changes physically (turns grey, veiny and all zombie like) Vid here showing her seeing her reflection but bad quality.

There also a high quality close up vid of lana's face turning into a zombie. I saw it yesterday but can't find it today!

Sounds like it could be worth it and also seems to be an actual survival horror game. Too many games these days that are 'Survival Horror' are actually just shooting games with more blood than usual.

    Have my eye on this.
Reckon I'll get it on release.

Does anyone, anywhere, actually like escort missions?

It does look good, but I've played too many games at this point to trust anything based so heavily around the well-being of an AI controlled character. Hopefully they get a demo out close to release so I can try it first.

    Sound F1ingers, thats the one!

Woner how much it's gonna be and if it will have trophy support. I see as well it's from the same guy who made Flashback, one of the best games on the Megadrive. Speaking of, how class would a HD remake be of that!

Just announced today that this will be released on XBLA as well. Could a mod edit the thread title please?

I recommend Amnesia: The Dark Descent in the meantime. I BETA tested it when G4Xonline.com were doing some of their reviews.

This looks amazing though, miss a good survival horror since Resident Evil 3 was out

    **** you Natalia!!

That's what i think of anytime there's an escort quest in a game. This looks interesting though.

This story sounds as if it's been ripped from the Justin Cronin book The Passage.

A girl called Amy that holds the key to a virus that has decemated the planet by turning humans into 'Virals'. Must be escorted across America to save the world.

    A great read!
