Diving Portroe

I'm diving Portroe for the 1st time this saturday. Its my first cold, freshwater dive. I've heard that some regs are prone to free flowing at deeper depth. I have a set of MK 16 T.I.S , R190 Scuba Pro 1st + 2nd stage.

Anyone know if these will stand up to the job??

I doubt it's gonna be that cold, but then again, I've heard it said that it's not for nothing that they call them "ScubaFlow"!

if they are in good nick then there fine they are good regs..the water is freezing there.bout 8 at surface and rapidly decreases to about 3r4 at 40m it stings your face at 3degrees!!.its more down to the diver if ya ask me be calm relaxed and breathe very slowly it diver who go down thinkin its like the sea get in trouble. its dark and cold so can cause a diver whos not ready for it to breath faster then normal which generally sets it off ive witnessed it there first hand.ive been with guys with entry level scuba pro with no bother.if ya stay over the 20m mark should be ok its easy diving then and can be nice and bright & not too cold.no need to go deeper there anyway

Cheers, I've been hearing a lot about "Scubaflow" recently so didn't fancy driving down to cut a dive unnecessarily!

I was there in mid-May when it was 10 degrees in most part, didn't go under 30 metres (as I can't anyway). I just dialed my reg back, no problems. In the winter time I've heard it can be 4 degrees though, which doesn't sound fun to me. It was GREAT not having to rinse gear and come up with a mouth full of salt water. I didn't fancy a 2nd dive though. It was an experience but for me it didn't have the charm that the sea does.

I've heard that it gets nippy in the deep! Its a course so not for pleasure so not too concerned about sight seeing! The challenge now being finding the bleedin place.

The mk16 is the predecessor of the mk17 - ScubaPro's only diaphragm first stages. They're environmentally sealed, and designed with cold water in mind. You should be fine!
