    Afternoon all,

I currently am on a regular pay as you go plan with Vodafone, €30 per month gets you unlimited internet, free vodafone to vodafone calls and texts etc.

Im sure im missing something here but can i buy a second hand i phone, use my current sim and plan and go on my merry way?

    Thanks

It most certainly does not! It gets you 250MB for the 30 days following your top-up.

Anyway, yes you can buy a second hand iPhone, once it is network unlocked. If it's an iPhone 4 you will need to have your SIM replaced with a MicroSIM card, you can get this done free of charge in a Vodafone shop.

Thanks Kensington, i suppose 'unlimited' is never as described on the tin!

I assume that 250 MB wouldnt really be up to scratch for normal use of an i phone?

It would really depend on your usage. If it was just facebook, email, maybe some browsing on m.boards.ie, then you would probably last the month.

Heavy browsing, heavy e-mailing, youtube, online radio, downloading and updating apps, forget it! There's occasions I'd use 250MB+ in a day, never mind a month :)

As long as the phone is unlocked, or locked to VF

Am a Vodafone PAYG customer on same €30 deal on iPhone 4. Have wifi at home but not in work but rarely go over my limit. Use facebook, email, sky sports news, rte and some web browsing while in work. Obviously depends on the user but I am very happy on my plan.

i spend an hour on a bus commuting, averaging about 70-80megs a day of 3g usage and that's just checking email/facebook/twitter/1 or 2 youtube videos. don't know how anyone could go a full month with 250megs only especially with a smart phone

I've an iPhone on payg. It's grand. I top up with my €30, free calls and texts to vodafone and free net. Once that's used up then it's 99c a day. Credit lasts me about a month.

Watching YouTube, etc uses a lot of the net allowance though
