Terrestrial Connection Help

    Hi,

Basically in the living room we have Sky Digital & the basic NTL Digital Package (€22) a month. There is a cable coming through the wall from outside the house for both Sky & NTL into the living room. Both Sky & NTL have a box in the living room also.

In breakfast room part of the house, there is what I can only imagine to be an old NTL box but the cover of the box is just plain white(could of been replaced when house was extended). However my Mum has a TV hooked up there so just a basic aerial cable coming out of the box into the back of the TV and she has all the usual channels - RTE,BBC,ITV,C4 etc.

What I want to know is where is the connection she is getting her channels coming from? Is it coming via the NTL Digital in the living room or is it just an old point that we seem to be able to still work off?

The reason I want to find out is because I am looking to get rid of the NTL Digital in the living room but if getting rid of that means she loses here channels then it won't happen.

    Thanks in advance

UPC (NTL) analogue channels probably carried on the same cable as the digital channels.

You will lose them if you cancel your UPC sub and they disconnect the cable outside.

Is there anyway for definite of finding out that the analogue channels are being carried on the same cable?

Would UPC know we are using analogue channels from an old analogue box?

No, they wont know, but they will disconnect the cable at the gable and take away the UPC digital box. So even though they do not know, the signal will go anyway.
