Clutch Query

First off, I appreciate that this thread may be more applicable to the learning to drive forum, but I think I'll probably get more of a response here. Basically, bought my first car about 3 months ago, 06 Citroen C1 (this could have been my first mistake :o) 50,000 km on it at the moment. Been driving a fair bit in the last couple of months, to work and likes. Now I am a learner and thus probably at fault to some degree but basically the clutch went the other night. Completely kaput. I know that when I drive I consciously try to avoid riding the clutch, but out of habit would be prone to it when approaching roundabouts and the likes.

The dealership are replacing the clutch and covering it under warantee, so I'm thinking there must have already been some considerable wear there when I bought it. Basically I have two questions: Could I myself have done a considerable degree of damage in such a brief period, and subsequently I'm just looking for general tips on how to be kind to the clutch, because I definitely don't need it to go again, especially out of the warantee period! Thanks in advance.

The bite was fairly high on it when I bought it alright but the dealer passed it off as the 'type of clutch' when queried, it drove fine and I didn't really know too much to dispute :o

I won't be out of pocket at all so it's not really too much of an issue but the car dying on the side of a dual carriageway in the early hours wasn't too great an experience :p Thanks a million for the advice, I'll certainly be more careful with it now!

The citroen C1/107/Aygo seem to be prone to clutch issues. There are plenty of cases of them not even lasting as long as yours so your imput to the problem may have been minimal.
