I had braces to close a gap(from a missing tooth) 10 years ago. i went to see a specialist and she told me that they moved the right side of my top teeth too far and wants me to get braces. How do they do this?

Op, if they are moving your teeth back to the original place you will then have a gap. are you getting an implant once this is done? Or are they just moving them a very small amount to prevent over crowding?

The mechanics of it are basically train tracks that are tightened each month to pull the teeth in the desired direction.

Ya i think so in two or three of my front teeth. Have to do something with the bone at the front in order to get it done.

I would suspect that (talking off the top of my head here really) you had a gap on one side and the teeth on that side were move into the place of the missing tooth. This is called substitution. Sometimes this doesnt look all that great (espically is modern aesthetic standards) and later on you may be reccomended to have the space opened up again to replace the missing tooth with a bridge, implant or other restoration. Its pretty standard. Having braces again is the same as the first time albeit a little slower in adults to move teeth.
