Though this is a trial, it is still a top class meet in itself

The 100m men has nine men under 10 seconds for example

Here is the list of Declarations for the trials

Looking forward to seeing the 800m for one and whether the college lads have what it takes to make the team ahead of some of the pro s (the likes of Jock and Primm)

Another interesting match up is WC decathlete Tray Hardee up against Ashton Eaton, Heptathlon WR holder

As far as i know Runner space have rights to stream all US Championship races

The line up for the women's 100m Hurdles is absolutely sick! Solid chance Lolo will miss out on making the team again.

So many good line ups/match ups here better than most diamond league competitions such as

    Mens
    5000: Solinsky v Lagat
    110h: Oliver v Merritt
    400h: Jackson v Taylor
    400: Klement v Wariner

    Womens
    1500: Wurth v Pierce v Uceny
5000: Huddle v Rowbury v Flanagan (if she runs it)
    10000: Goucher v Flanagan

These are just a few of the ones which should make it interesting meet to say the least with womens 100h and mens 800 having atleast five or six who can fill the 3 spots for worlds

We'll get her on the eurosport coverage of the worlds again though. :)

The Jamaican Trials are on this w/e too! The 100m should provide plenty of fireworks at both venues.

Ah, poor Lolo. She has a sciatic nerve problem. It may scupper her chances.

Will Jeremy Wariner return to his best?

The Jamaican 100m is most interesting: even with 4 places (Bolt plus 3 others), one of Asafa Powell (3rd All-Time), Nesta Carter (4th AT), Steve Mullings (6th AT) and Yohan Blake, will definitely not qualify for the individual 100m.

Dont forget Frater who has run quicker than Blake this year. This will be a better race than the worlds if you ask me. I think could wesee one or two try focus on the 200 having said that the depth of that is just as bad

My predictions would be Mullings Carter and close between Blake and Powell for last spot in the 100 and Ashmeade Mullings and Blake in the 200

The really important question - is this going to be on live anywhere?

Blake beat Frater in Kingston by 2m, so I'm going for Mullings, Blake and whoever is fittest between Carter and Powell. Both have had injury problems, but Carter is back from his. We don't know how fit Powell is until he races full out. Depending on conditions, we could have some sensationally fast 100m races this w/e, including the likes of Jeter in Eugene and VCB and the other Jamaican girls in Kingston. Roll out de rum, baby!

Solinsky no mater what he trys will not beat lagat, he doenst have the legs over the last 200, in fact I dont think he has ever beaten him ie Olympic 08 trials, Diamond league, Melbourne 5k in March. Only Bekele or 'Buster' Mottram in his prime could deal with such a kick. Flanagan will beat the field by 200m.

Does the country that has the reigning world champion get 4 spots for Daegu???

Is this the same for the Olympics?

I think the previous champion has the right to defend his/her title. That's the way its been for the last few world champ's anyway. Definitely not the case for the olympics, max of 3 there.

Damn, so that's 4 Jamaicans for Derval to contend with rather than 3.

Although I haven't particularly seen anything from any of them that would have her quaking in her boots. Foster-Hilton and Ennis-London looked pretty brutal in the diamond league the other week and they are getting quite old at this stage. Doesnt seem to be one of Jamaicas strongest sprint events right now.

100m Hurdles final result from the Jamaican Champs. Nothing too jaw-dropping here:

    1 Spence, Indira Unattached 13.08 -1.6
    2 Dixon, Vonette Unattached 13.12 -1.6
    3 Ennis, Delloreen Unattached 13.13 -1.6
    4 Bliss, Andrea Unattached 13.16 -1.6
5 Greaves, Latoya Mvp Track Club 13.31 -1.6
    6 Booth, Yanique Unattached 13.48 -1.6
    7 Ruddock, Natasha Unattached 13.57 -1.6

The US champs are a different ball game entirely though.

    1 Kellie Wells Nike 12.50 +1.8 0.195
    2 Danielle Carruthers unattached 12.59 +1.8 0.182
    3 Dawn Harper Nike 12.65 +1.8 0.186
    4 Virginia Powell Nike 12.76 +1.8 0.147
    5 Nia Ali U S C 12.86 +1.8 0.228
    6 Tiki James unattached 12.94 +1.8 0.212
    7 Loreal Smith unattached 12.98 +1.8 0.169
FS Yvette Lewis Norfolk Real Deal Track Club

Poor Lolo went out in the semis.

Yeah a bit of a shocker with Lolo going out. And Tyson Gay pulling out is disappointing too. I hate the thought of seeing Justin Gatlin running there.

Have to say before this year I don't think I can recall ever hearing about Kellie Wells.

    Here's her IAAF profile.

    http://www.iaaf.org/athletes/biographies/country=USA/athcode=201716/index.html

With the exception of a 12:58 in 2008 all her other season's bests are pretty average, and now she is running 12.50.

Not suggesting anything dodgey or anything. Just wondering does anybody know a bit more about her? Was she struggling with injuries the last few years? Did she change coach?

She looks like the clear favourite for Daegu now. Can't see anybody else in the world beating her if she runs to her best.

She has 'peaked too early' written all over her in my opinion. It takes some effort to maintain your form from June through to September. One to oppose for betting purposes come Daegu.

Unless 12.50 is not her peak? Maybe she has a sub 12.40 in her. As I said, I know absolutely nothing about her.

She ran in Cork last year!

She's had three years of injury issues after wrecking her hamstring in the semis of the U.S Olympic trials in 2008. She ran a PR in that race too, 12.58 IIRC, but injured herself whilst deaccelerating.

That makes a lot of sense.

    Thanks for the info.

She's been kicking about for a few years. Second in the US champs last year. Apparently she did her hamstring in running 12.58 in the semis of the Olympic trials in 2008 (DNS the final) and is only back at full fitness now.

This will be her first major champs that I can see. I'll be incredibly impressed if she is running 12.4x (or even 12.5x) in the final come September.

    Edit: What Rinneanna said.

Yep no mention of her competing in any major champs, indoor or out.

She ran 7.79 indoors this year aswell, so has been on form for quite a few months now.
