UPC Self Install

    Hi,
I rang UPC a few days ago and after the agent confirming that my apartment was eligible for self install, I placed my order. The equipment was delivered today but after looking at an incomplete set of blinking lights on the modem for 5 minutes, I contacted tech support.
After resetting the modem and spending another 5 minutes looking at the blinking lights he said he would have to schedule an engineers visit, but could not do so for 4 more days.

I decided to look at the connection board for the apartment block and found that the cable for my apartment is disconnected. There are 3 free points but there are silver barrels connected to them which I cannot remove.

Does anyone know how to connect the cable which will give me access and so that I dont have to wait 4 days for an engineer to come out for 5 minutes.

    Thanks

They are self screwing blanks placed on the free ports. You need a special tool to remove them. They are placed there to stop people getting free analogue channels without UPC knowing. There are ways to get them off but it is illegal to remove them, you will prob have to wait for upc to take it off for you...

    Hi Thekartels,

I dont think there is any way around this. I just had to wait for UPC to send out an engineer.
