Google image searched before for these but never found any links.
    Today I did.

About 1986-87 I had one of these in Black and Grey and remember thinking it
was pretty cool to have a Transformer Pen.

Looking back on the images now they were rubbish!
To make matters worse the one I had was an original and
a few months later cheaper clones came out! which were even more
    rubbish than the original.

I don't remember those pens but it does remind me of the Transformer watches that were on the go at the time. Everything seemed to be ripping off the idea. Even MASK is essentially just GI Joe + Transformers combined into one.

I agree that they look rubbish. In fact, back then anything that transformed was rubbish .... even transformers. Pity I didn't realise it at the time.

Christ, I remember mine being much better than that. I snuck downstairs Christmas morning around 4am to take mine out of my sock and played with it in bed. I remember there was only about an inch of an ink tube inside it and freaking out about what might happen if it ran out - and ended up hardly ever using as a result.

I was bought at least one of these, if not two. Even then i thought they were utter crap.

    Ink ran out quicksmart too.

    .

Shape shifting robots existed in Japan as far back as sometime. in the 60s.

This was long before Takara started the process that would turn G.I.Joe into Henshin Cyborg to Microman to Microchange, then Diaclone, then the importation of Diaclone and Microchange to the U.S to create Transformers.

Sorry for the history lesson, but it was to illustrate a point.
