How moral do you think you are - on a scale of 1 to 10 (see post #1)

Just about everyone operates according to a moral framework. That framework can be constructed using all kinds of inputs; parental, spiritual, society, friends, schooling, other influential people... and ideas that just seem to stem from within. The shape of the moral framework can even change over time: you might view something as wrong now that you used to consider as right - and vice versa.

However the moral framework happens to be constructed, it is the persons own framework.

Many people would have the view that they fall short of their own moral standard. But how short is that? How well do people think they are living according to their own moral standard at this point in time?

    Scoring Pointers

1 is the lowest score. You fail, pretty much all of the time, to live according to your moral standard. You repeatedly fall short of the moral standard you feel you should keep.

10 is the highest score. You succeed, pretty much all the time, to live according to your moral standard. You never fall short of the moral standad you feel you should keep.

Score yourself on how it is you are operating these days according to your current view. Don't let how you operated in the past influence your score. Don't let how you hope to operate in the future influence things either.

By all means add comment but especially so if you score a 1 or a 10. Sometimes people mean something else with a score of 1 or 10 than that they perfectly (fail to) adhere to their own moral system. They might reject morality altogether, for example, and don't count for the purposes of this survey.

Avoid scoring yourself with respect to societies view of morality or your parents view of morality or religions view of morality (unless their view of morality is your view). It's your own view of morality that is of interest here.

    Thanks for taking part!

    What if you are amoral?

My goodness you have fast broadband (and are a fast typist). When I clicked "post thread" both my post and your reply appeared together in the next screen

Wouldn't a more appropriate question be: How harmonious are you with your peers?

If the poll asked how well you ride your motorcycle (on a scale of 1 to 10) and you don't ride a motorcycle, what would you do w.r.t. poll?

    :)

Around a 5, mixture of both I guess.

For instance, if I found a woman's purse or something .. I'd return it, but only if she agreed to have sex with me.

Skew the results by answering with a 10.

I don't know if the poll works as it has no frame of reference except your own moral standards. It should be based maybe on the morals of friends, family or colleagues

Based on my own morals? I score a 10...

Seeing as I change my morals to justify what I do I gave myself a 10!

Depends on the purpose I suppose. Two people might consider themselves holding to their moral standard to a score of 6. The one might get on well with their peers, the other might not.

If we only knew how well they got on with their peers we wouldn't know anything about how well they hold to their own moral standard.

For me, I hate the pronunciation of the word "moral".

Now, "morale", that's different. That has class.

Morality is just rules for peer interaction though.

So which part do you see as falling short of your moral standard? Returning a purse or extorting sex from someone?

Then tell us how you interact with your peers. On a scale of 1 to 10.

What if your moral compass is soo low that doing things that most people view as immoral doesn't even register on your scale?
