As far as I'm aware, students don't have access to it. I've certainly never heard of Datastream before. You're best bet would be to contact the computer centre. Try emailing them at computercentre@ucc.ie.

    the thompson financial thing?

you have to be in the library for it, there's no remote access.

They have datastream over in the post grad centre in WIT - over by the FAS building. Call into the postgrad secretary Jackie Murphy over there for access! Remember only one person can access it at one time, so even though you're trying to connect to it - someone else can be on it first.

nah unfortunately they only get it for one or two weeks a year so need it sooner, dont think it has the data im looking for spent a few hours in cork yesterday with no luck

what kind of info are you looking for? WIT does have it all the time - it's used for research and they HAVE to have it!! Stop making us look bad :) If you can get access in UCC. Call into the economics department - to the best of my knowledge it's NOT available in the library - only in specific computer labs.

im looking for futures prices for 6 commodities but not the continual price, the daily close price for each commodity price on individual contracts. Nope WIT deffinitely doesnt have it ive asked loads of the lecturers and head of department of post-grads etc. I was on datastream in UCC but I could only get the continual data not individual contracts.

Jesus, the recession has hit WIT hard if they don't have datastream anymore. yeah, it's a pain to use, because you'll never have enough time to become familiar with it. You should ask your discussant for help - or email someone you know is proficient in it (like in WIT, Dr. Shiela O' Donoghue would be a good place to start) or Frank Conway, or Cormack O'Keeffe. I don't think they'd mind helping you if you're stuck. You can but ask!
