Golf gti DMF and clutch

Does anyone know, if the clutch is showing signs or wear on a mkv gti, does the DMF have to be replaced also?

I am looking at one, VW looked over it, and although I didn't notice it when taking it for a test drive, on their report it states '' clutch very stiff, may be pressure plate, new clutch kit may be required''..

The chap said it wasn't a big deal, said it could go next month, or next year..or may be grand..tbh , he sounded like he didn't know what he was on about.

Car only has 56,000 km on it...if the clutch does indeed feel stiffer tan usual..is this a sign its on the way out, or can that be normal enough?

    Thanks

If in doubt run like Forrest!

There's no shortage of Golf's out there.

well , I'm fairly fussy, want a white one, clean, leather lowish mileage so not many about, and I have a good price agreed on this one..

I'd replace the DMF while the clutch is out

even if it looks fine? At only 35k miles on the clock, coupled with it being a petrol, hardly worth the massive additional expense changing the flywheel considering it may be good for years to come(only do around 8-10k miles a year)?

is a stiff clutch a sign that its on the way out anyway?

Check with VW to see what is recommended

Well, at the time of inspection, he offered to replace the clutch, no mention of a flywheel at all, and he quoted me a nice round sum of 1,000 euro- no thanks!

A VW main dealer price on clutch and flywheel is around €1150. I got the same quote from 3 dealer in Cork. Clutch, flywheel and release bearing.

I havn't heard of many DMFs giving trouble on GTIs but if I had the clutch out I'd replace the DMF too. It's very rare for the clutch on them to give trouble. Mine has nearly 100k km on it and the clutch is still light and shows no sign of slipping.
