    Hi,

I looking into getting an ex-mod defender 90. Has anyone done this before? Are there any known pitfalls with dealing with the ex-mod vehicles apart from some of the electrics.

    thanks

No real pitfalls but really good ones command a premium price, up to £5000. They were mostly built in 86/87 and have the 2.5 Naturally Asthmatic diesel. They all have 12V vehicle electrics, FFRs have a separate generator and 24V electrics purely for the radios.

90s will be generally less hard worked than 110s and get maintained to a budget, a scruffy looking could get cast with a new engine and gearbox.

There's a few later Wolf XD 90s come out but you'll pay a minimum of £12000 for one.

Withams SV http://www.mod-sales.com/direct/vehicles/,25,/Used_Landrovers.htm are the sole disposal agents if you want straight from service, otherwise have a look at www.milweb.net

As Sean says, just avoid the FFR's like the plague (they often had chassis and gear ratio modifications as well as the leccy bits) and apply the usual inspections.

    Good luck!
