Just wondering, which hire cars require you to have held a driving license for the least amount of time or even no requirement at all. Have a need to drive over seas alot in the next 12 months but only qualified a few weeks ago.

Each will have their own policy on this, but I doubt it'd be a problem working around it. If you've a full license, you've a full license and someone will rent to you (unless you're under 25 which makes it a bit trickier).

VERY few rental agencies will rent to anyone with a licence <1 year old and most others still require 2 years (and more for bigger cars)
And you can forget about any bargain websites as I havent found a deal yet on them for fresh licence holders, and rarely even for a 1 year old licence.

on the continent one of the very few that will rent a small car to a fresh licence holder is sixt.
In Germany at least they have minis as their small cars so its not the worst of restrrictions!!

Very true. Depending on the company, you normally need to have held a full licence for at least 12 months in order to rent a car.

Sorry folks but you are way off the mark. I rented without problem despite holding license less than 1 year. It was Miami and Orlando and they never batted an eyelid, one was an independent company the other was Payless and was for a 10 day rental.

I do accept that it's written into the T&C's of most Car Hire companies but, I assure you, there are ways around this and each location can choose to enforce it's own policies.

Like I say for U25's it might be an issue or incur an extra fee but I am speaking from personal experience when I say that it is entirely possible and without much difficulty.

If you say so. I'm not pedantic enough to go digging up all the major car rental companies' Ts & Cs. I suggest the OP does though - at least for any company he's considering renting from.
