Running Distance Calculator

    Hi,

I have recently started running in the morning. I want to be able to see how far I have run without having to measure the route/distance in advance. Are there any devices for calculating this? I'm a bit of a techno-clown so any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Ian.

Google "maps labs" has a distance tool, its in the bottom left of the map picture.

The Gear and Equipment sub forum of the Athletics Running Triathlon forum has all manner of threads about all kinds of ways you could do this :)

Moved from Health and fitness, thought it would get better responses here.

It sounds like you're talking about a GPS watch. They record distance as well as time (and therefore speed). They're a bit pricey though. See the Garmin megathread for more info.

If you can pick out the route on a map easily then you could measure it on a website like http://www.gmap-pedometer.com or http://www.maymyrun.com. They tend to be fairly accurate.
