Airline cabin baggage allowance

Bought a new bag for taking onto the airplane cabin. The dimensions are 55x36x20. But including the wheels on the bottom it is almost 59cm high.

I know airplane allowance are stated as 55x40x20 for aer lingus and ryanair but does that include the wheels?
The advert slip attached to bag states it is 55cm high(so thebag manufacturer is not including the wheels but the actual bag compartment size.

I know they can be fussy at times especially ryanair in which on one flight a while back my bag was 200 grams!! over weight and I had to remove an item,

so would they allow that bag?

If it won't fit in the frame, the bag goes into the hold and your hard earned cash goes into their coffers.

Wheels are included in the dimensions for Ryanair, so I guess the top of your bag is going to peep out of the frame unfortunately. Aer Lingus are a little more forgiving.

remember, the frames to check for cabin baggage size are just that, frames.

It may be a case that the bottom of your bag will sit on the frame and the wheels will stick out the bottom, thus making your bag the right size. Test it in the airport next time your there. Play around with orientations to get it to fit. it may fit facing one way and not the other.

Thanks, can't remember where the frames are in the airport,
Are they next to the check in desks ??

there are some next to check in desks and then one at every gate that Ryanair use. Other airlines have them dotted around too.

Good point about the frames from alexlyons (and I've done this myself) however they seem to be using the cardboard ones that they try to put over your bag themselves and they're not so forgiving!
