Oh no! This is terrible. We need to cull the heron population immediately, along with the magpies, grey crows and anything else that eats cute baby animals and birds;)

Ur man that took the photos was on the Ray Darcy show today, he said when he was taking the photos people were trowing stones and sticks at the heron to stop him taking the ducklings. Its just hard for people that aren't used to seen nature in it raw state to accept that this goes on every day all over the country.

It's just as well no one injured or killed the heron with all the projectiles that were hurled at it, they would have faced prosecution under the Wildlife Act! I wonder would a judge accept the defence that they were trying to save a cute baby duckling from a big evil heron? I blame Beatrix Potter for all this 'evil predator' rubbish;)

Depends who you talk to, I know a lot of anglers who regard him as a bigger pest than the corvids. I also remember reading about some one who lost £2,000 worth of Koi Carp to a greedy heron. If that was me, the magpies would be saints in comparison:D

My sister knew that their garden was right under a heron's flight path so she just didn't bother with fish at all when they dug a pond; the frogs that found their way in seem to survive fairly well and do double duty as pest control in the garden.
