Hi! I recently got a 2K road bike & have been really enjoying cycling her, except for the crap weather for the last 2 months!
So, I'm looking for 1/ maybe 2 carbon bottle cages:

Can u recommend good value, quality bottle cages?( Either in Dublin shop or online)

    Appreciate your advice!

    Arequipa.

Name your price and you shall receive. (It goes anything from 10 to 150!)

I find the planet x carbon cages perfectly adequate, but in general I have found carbon cages to be underwhelming. Very pretty, but not always secure and even a minor spill can mean "bye bye bottle cage".

+ 1, these look just as good, waaaaaaay cheaper, wont break or drop a bottle, the mutts nuts !

+1 on those cages - I have 2 on my bike and they're great

I have 4 of the planet x ones for nearly 3 years now and no problems with any of them. Great value in my opinion.

I bought these on advice from these forums, have been great so far, and match the weave of my frame perfectly!

Thanks a mil for your replies!
I will check out all your recommendations!
I had no idea up until now how much a bottle cage would cost, so I was thinking of spending 30-60 euro on each one!
My bike frame is mostly white and blue with a thin streak of black ;so I imagine the bottle cage will have to be white/black!

    YES
The cages MUST be colour co-ordinated with the frame.
Otherwise you are likely to get very strange looks from The cognoscenti.

Like the look of those 'Elite Custom Race Bottle Cage' on wiggle: at 9.99 sterling; very good value: Merci beaucoup!!

if it's any use, I have two Zipp ones. I got them on recommendation that they actually held bottles securely and the style does work.

I'm sure you can find ones that come from the same mould that don't have the Zipp sticker that aren't €50 each.

Like many bike components you can spend as little or as much as you like. I have two eBay carbon jobs on my training bike, cost under €10, light, look good and hold the bottles as well as any I have had.

Cages designed and supplied by an Irish company, Redsport:

I bought a couple of Carbon Cages which I sourced on ebay last year. The seller 'carbonistauk' sent me a paypal invoice directly because "Paypal checkout does not like ROI, this happens everytime." When I received them the quality was crap. I gave them away.

I buy my bottle cages from this guy: http://shop.ebay.ie/88bikefun/m.html?_nkw=&_alastrmrs=1&_from=&_ipg=&_trksid=p3686 , it's actually bikebicycle99 and the quality is always great (for the money you are paying), I 've been using 6 of them the last 2.5 years with no problems.

If I had though 30-40 euro to give per cage I 'd get one of these BTP cages.

IIRC mine were also from bikebicycle99 and I am as happy with them as my Tacx ones... in fact they hold a wider variety of bottles better.

I have the Tacx aluminium ones, they're great, if and when I get a carbo bike I'll be getting the carbon version.

Seem to be used by plenty in the pro peleton aswell, thats good enough for me!

The Tacx Tao aluminum ones are good value ;5 or whatever price PBK does them for. Light, cheap, look good and work well. I have well over ten of them and use them on most of my bikes. Believe it or not the alu cages still work even on a carbon frame. The carbon ones (which I got in a sale for my good race bike) work the same and save something like 9g. I certainly wouldn't pay €40 for them.*

*EDIT: Holy god, they are £71.99 now from CRC (with 10% off RRP of £79.99.) INSANE. It is only a bottle cage.

These are the Carbon ones I got off 88bikefun on ebay for 15 yoyos delivered, can't fault them tbh.

As Wiggle states - as used by half the peleton in the 2010 TDF.
Pointless going for a more expensive carbon cage when this plastic one is way cheaper and only slightly heavier.
Unless you are into show pony bikes, get the plastic Elite.
I have two on the Scott, and one on the carbon MTB (only used for carrying tool bottle).

I reckon Sellotape probably has the edge on these in terms of durability

Was reading in WW that these kevlar ones are surprisingly strong. But I kinda doubt how well it can keep the bottle, it's for display purposes only probably lol
