    Seen it and yes I'm sold!!! I normally use the crest whitening strips but my gums are quite sensitive so can't use them as much as I'd like.

    Did you order one yet? if so what was the shipping cost?

    Ah just checked the site and it's free delivery - not a bad offer so ;)

    I didn't order cos I wanted others opinions on it. looks good though. I'd love whiter teeth (though not as white as that beautician - they were too white)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,180 ✭✭✭tomissex

    I'd love whiter teeth! Very tempted by this. I wonder how long one pen would last, did she mention that at all?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,971 ✭✭✭_Whimsical_

    I could only find one blog post on this searching online and it hadn't even reviewed the product. If it was really so good wouldn't it be all over the internet?

    I hate myself for being so tempted by this.:)

    any idea what concentration the bleach is??

    usually you need the trays to hold the bleach against the tooth surface for it to work, otherwise your saliva will wash it away in a few mins.
    don't like the bit where it says it doesn't damage the gums either, if it's not wiped off the gum straight away, then it can really sting.

    I really wanna try it but €25 is a lot for me for something that doesn't work.

    Where as if it does.....€25 is a bargain :p

    I seen it on xpose and I was like that looks familiar!! My Mum had gotten me one for christmas and I had never used it so I started today!!! It says it only needs 6 sessions to whiten your teeth for 12 vmonths. It foams a little in your mouth when you put it on your teeth, not an awful taste off it bit minty bit yuck!! Teeth dont look whiter yet but ill keep you all posted! :D

    If you're curious, this is the active ingredient: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carbamide_peroxide

    Must be a pretty high concentration to work so quickly, and its weird that you don't need to wash it off. Curious.

    And yes, it's made from urea.
    Which is pee.
    You're smearing pee on your teeth.

    Urea is a product of protein breakdown. Urea does not equal urine. :rolleyes:

    whitening toothpastes do absolutely nothing more than scrape off surface stains. they won't change the underlying colour of your teeth like bleach will. use it too much and you'll get sensitive teeth.

    carbamide peroxide breaks down into urea + hydrogen peroxide, and it's the hydrogen peroxide that does the whitening.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4 Okumba

    Hi, I`ve tried those strips before,they do work but its a slow process also i did`nt like the gel ..made me wanna take them off an scrub my teeth:eek: i`m a smoker and tea drinker and in my opinion 2 products work better 1 tube of ordinary toothpaste and 1 whitening paste as a top up ...like an extra polish :D

    I got so excited when i saw this, it just seemed so simple and easy to achieve results....alas the excitement died down when i found that it has not been CE approved and Sam McCauley chemists are considering discontinuing the product for safety reasons....:eek:

    Hi guys,
    I'm not a fan of these products;
    if it is powerful- it needs to be applied with care and in a controlled manner, not just painted on and then allowed to contact the gums and lips. A powerful agent will cause a caustic burn...

    Unfortunately, it's usually no pain, no gain and the same is true of this, if there is no sensitivity- then it really isn't doing much...

    Therefore, these agents may help a bit but really are a waste long term...

    Try this
    166001.jpg

    On a more serious note;
    I don't do tooth whitening but a patient of mine told me how she was totally ripped off by websites selling this stuff;
    She saw a free trial on a google search, the site looked legit- had photos of celebrities endorsing the product (false adverts) and links to fake newspaper articles showing how some housewife has combined two different agents to get serious toilet bowl white teeth for the cost of a mars bar....
    My patient signed up for the free trial, a credit card was needed for verification of address and postage... So the scam began- the company sent out some products 3-4 weeks later, then automatically upgraded the patients status to a full paying member at the same time as the patient did not cancel the free trial.
    They continued to charge about $120 per month on her credit card...
    She emailed, they were not helpful, they said that she needed to send back the free sample to cancel the membership, but could only send this back with a special reference number from their site(this link then did not work...)...

    Her creditcard company then eventually sorted it out after looking at all the evidence of her trying to cancel everything....

    Buyer beware:cool::cool::cool:

    I really think if anybody is seriously considering teeth whitening and wants a big difference go and get it done properly. I got mine done for 250 euro at my dentist.

    You get a mould done and take home the trays and do it. To top up you just buy the bleach, 15 and top it up. So even though it's expensive to start it's cheap to maintain! Has made a HUGE difference to me!

    I can post before and after pics if anybody wants.

    Would love to see the before and afters. I've been mulling over getting them done quite a while now but scared in case it hurts! I've heard stories of people been in agony after getting it done, how did you find it?

    I paid €250 at my dentist for trays for my whitening, pictured below (white residue is bleach! Didn't wash them properly :o). The product is called NiteWhite 22% I wear for one hour a day until desired results. I got 6 tubes at the time which covers 36hours.

    To purchase bleach its €15 per tube (6hours)

    I bought a tube last week so need to top up my whitening. I'm very pleased with the results. People comment that my teeth look very white.

    The product also gives your teeth a glossier appearance! Definitely money well spent!!

    I have a consultation for braces on Wednesday which I am so excited for!! :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,971 ✭✭✭_Whimsical_

    Well I got the pen and I have used it for six days now following instructions to the letter of the law and... it's useless!

    I only did my top teeth for experimentation purposes so I could compare the final result with my bottom teeth and see what they used to be like. I've been washing away furiously everyday and I have thought yeah they're definitely looking whiter several times but when I go to compare them with my bottom teeth the are exactly the same colour. I think that using the pen gives you extra focus on your teeth so you are taking increased care of them (I washed mine five times yesterday!) and that any whitening effect results from that. Sadly the proof is in my mouth. This pen is 25 bucks down the drain.

    Oh and it does make your teeth a little sensitive and I find that if it gets on my gums it makes them bleed. So,sensitive people should avoid!

    May I have your teeth please? Also you wouldn't happen to know if most dentist do this or is it just a few? I'd rather splash out at my dentist then to do a pen which could be dodgey =/

    Haha, only good thing about my teeth is that they are whiter than before.

    Had my braces consultation today, got my moulds done! Getting them on the 27th of July. Cannot wait!! Also whitening is included so they will be whiter again!!!

    Most dentists do this as far as I know. You should ring them and query it. :)

    Yep, I have to agree, I did my 6th application last night too. I think they're slightly whiter, but 'whimsical' is right, I have been brushing like a woman possessed! I suppose that in itself is a result! Got a friend of mine with a chemistry background to look at the ingredients. She said the concentration of bleach is really weak, so I guess for proper results, you have to commit to the moulds!

    Been following this thread for a while now. Finally got around to checking this product out.

    Two things straight away set the alarm bells off for me.

    1. No CE Mark of approval - I would never put any chemical near my mouth, teeth or gums that wasnt CE approved. You would seriously have to question why it isnt approved.

    2. No information pamhlet contained within the product with futher information pertaining to ingredients, application, who shouldnt use this product etc.

    Buyers beware!

    hey everyone, well how did the whitening go? is it worth buying

    I use these

    $(KGrHqR,!k4E4llRB(odBOKr(0RHgw~~_35.JPG

    They are amazing! One box is supposed to last one month but would last me at least 2! I dont use them as often as they recommend as they cause sensitivity. Once a week is enough for me. The results are very quick, several people have asked me if I have got my teeth whitened.:D

    This is where I buy them from
