I don't think I could help but to try to save the life of someone I saw trying to kill themselves, it's instinct.
And there's the chance they'd be grateful and change their mind.
And if not, not to be cynical, but he could always try again.

I'd be very sceptical that recruitment consultant was a mere onlooker in this whole situation!

It is sad to read about stuff like this, yes he may have been saved but if he really wants to end it all he will attempt it again and until he succeeds :(

He's now critically ill in hospital, they saved his life, yes.
But I'd imagine if he survives ,he'll have significant brain injuries, so won't have much of a life.
Not funny folks, too close to the bone for some people imo.

It might'nt have been his last wish...
Who knows what goes through the mind
of a person trying such an excercise?

If the man was suffering some delibitating and/or terminal illness then yes without question. I believe we should all have the right to die with dignity.

If the illness was a mental one though, say depression or something.....I'm not so sure there because people can recover from such illnesses and go on to live full and happy lives.

Then why post it in AH? There was little or no calls for such taste when people like Michael Jackson died.

I apologise if my comment caused offence....I was just ranting about a disliking for a certain profession, not disrespecting the man or his actions/wishes

Go ask the OP I didn't post it here and I know what a serious problem like suicide may be to people ,so some of the smart ass comments need to be nipped in the bud as far as I'm concerned that's all.

that's just the point it should have not been posted in AH in the first place I suspect the op knew the mixed reactions a post like this would invoke (in other words hes a sh*t stirrer)

Agree 100% re: dying with dignity- nothing dignified about that incident though. Can't imagine the onlookers will forget it in a hurry either.

Actually OP I have no idea what his last wish was, do you? All I can deduce from the article is that some poor soul tried to hang himself.

I thought that AH would have a wider age gap. Nothing else. But if someone leaves a silly message can you not ignore it? Some people have a need to appear witty or give quick retorts. Personally speaking I witnessed a suicide in London about 30 years ago. Guy jumped in front of artic lorry at crossroads. He had been released from a mental institution less than a week earlier after spending four months in hospital from an earlier attempt. He had jumped off a viaduct and broken pelvis, leg etc. Because of the repeat nature of these things I wondered what other readers thought.

I assumed that his wish was to die.

Or he gets access to the mental health professionals he needs while in hospital recovering. That day could be the first day of the rest of his life.

    Thread closed, Suicide isn't funny.
