Making app usable accross all phones (Android)?

Hi All, I am just starting an app which will be released on the market and I was just wondering in what way you make the app maintain it's layout accross multiple screen sizes. Would you just check the screen size and load a certain sized icon based on that or is there a specific way that it is generally done? Thanks a lot.

The documentation covers it pretty comprehensively - http://developer.android.com/intl/de/guide/practices/screens_support.html

But in general terms you create a different layout for each screen size and different graphics for each screen density and place them in the correct locations in the project structure and Android will do the rest.
