Well from the weather oracle over on the its pissing rain again weather forum

Really looking forward to it, regardless of weather. :)

Is the tea stop in that hotel in Bettystown where we left several gallons of rainwater on their sofas last year? Suprised they'll let us back if so.

Great event last year despite the weather, and IIRC, it was (for me) nicely slotted into the Sunday between the Mick Byrne and the Wicklow 200.

Hope to be there on Sunday.

Do I need a CI license for this event?

    Still have to get one!

Was going to spin with the Dublin Wheelers this Saturday for my first club spin...I wonder will a lot of them be going along to this?

Yes I am an absolute newb..go easy!

If my legs aren't shredded from the Maracycle, I'll head down to support the local CC.

Did this today, though turned off for the 100km as the lesg didn't feel too clever after yesterday.

Just wanted to say thanks to Swords CC for a great event, good crowd of 70+ I'd say, they delivered some lovely weather, and the tea stop at the Battle of the Boyne site was a fantastic idea, sitting out in the sun in such a great location taking a breather and availing of sandwiches and a nice cuppa.

Definitely one to do again next year!

Totally agree, great cycle and atmosphere.

    Thanks to Swords CC. Rob.

+1. Well organised, and definitely on the list for next year. Not sure the pace was all that leisurely though.. :)

Second that. I did the 150km and really paid for it in the heat. Lesson learnt. Don't wear a thermal windproof base layer on a day that is 22C.

For reference, first half was 28.63km/h @ 126W. Second half was 30.74km/h @ 205W. I do think the heat play a major part in making the day "feel" harder.

Good going to the Swords guys for controlling the weather however. Will take that over the rain we had last year anytime.

Great day out today really enjoyed it great route and even better weather and a bit if history thrown in too with our visit to The Battle of the Boyne battle site for our tea stop . Feisty pace all day which was great but really picked up after we turned right for the long route. Im not one for logging and recording times speeds etc but I honestly think that may have been one of the fastest average speeds over that distance and considering the heat I am quite pleased about that.
Thanks to all at Swords CC for a great day and for some nice tart, coffee and a bita banter at the finish ., GREAT JOB WELL DONE

Great event today with excellent marshalling, catering, atmosphere, weather and (for me) mechanical support. Hit a huge pothole and water bottle popped out. Stopped to retrieve it and discovered about a mile later that I had a flat rear tyre. Thanks to the guy in the support car who had me back on the road in jiffy time. Got back on the bunch just as they were pulling into the tea stop.

Huge thanks to Swords CC, esp. John and Margaret for looking after us so well and for the laughs back at the finish!!!

I think they do a 9 hill challenge and a 7 hill challenge sometime in Sept IIRC

Great tour lads, blessed with the weather. We were in the front 14 on the longer one and the pace was anything but leisurely, which we loved BTW. Great gallop over the hills, along the coast and back to the start. Wins the 'best foodstop venue of 2011' award but it would be nice to have a water stop somewhere in the following 80 or 90k (the foodstop was early in the overall 143k). Of course, would they have stopped???

Some Photo's from yesterday. Well done to everyone who participated. The pace really heated up after Julianstown!, I for one was glad I had to turn off at Garristown. The Garda escort from Julianstown to Garristown was nice. I think the Guard in question thought we were part of the Co-Operation North Maracycle :D
