MP3 Player and Stereo Speaker; need to connect one to the other

    I have the MP3 player, and one speaker which I got from work when they changed their sound system. The speaker requires the raw cables to be inputted into it (red and black clamps at the back of it). I did cut a headphone cable wire and adapted it so I could have the 3.5mm headphone jack and also the input for the speaker. The problem with this was it wasn't loud enough. My question is can I make it louder, or is there another way to do this.

    TLDR; Need cable that has a headphone jack on one end and those raw, exposed stereo input cables on the other end.

    EDIT: I have the wire, and the little 3.5mm headphone jack. The problem is I don't have the tools to 'solder' the wire into the jack or whatever that is called. Anyone know if I could get somewhere to do it? I know it's a simple task if you have the tools, but impossible without them! http://www.maplin.co.uk/plastic-3.5mm-stereo-plug-1182 I need to get the cable into that.

    You need an amplifier between the mp3 player and the speaker.
