Any one know anything about this group?

I cant see them on the CRO.ie website to state they are a registered company.
Left the car in Galway Shopping Center for about 2 hours, came back and it was clamped.

The company was called "positive Parking Services". I'm going to appeal it but not to sure who to go to?

private clamping company = remove clamp yourself and don't pay the fee or make "an appeal"....

Using someone elses property = obey their rules.

Private claming companies = no legal leg to stand on regardless....

    W**kers.......

They have as much legal right as you do to abuse someone elses property

People are all great for abusing rules until its them thats inconvenienced. How long would you wait in your house for somone to come back and move their car if they had you blocked in by parkign across your driveway?

OP could have contacted them to find out if they were gifting him the clamp or were going to remove it for free. Is the car park in a public place? Were there members of the public in the carpark??

Typical... If you want to go to Tesco you have to leave th ecarpark and "Run the gauntlet" of the Magic roundabout... And its vice versa...

As said before they clamped a person that I know from home for that very reason who just happened to have a Stihl saw in his van....!

Guess what he done with the clamp....:D

That was 2 months ago and still no word about damage to their property ! seems if its pushed a private clamping company have no legal rights !

Deffo appeal it and go get some free legal advice to see what the story is !

Their behaviour just sickens me !

OP sounds like you were in 'Galway retail Park' the 'Galway shopping centre' across the road contains the tescos.
The clampers in the GRP are lethal,
much better off parking in the GSC and walking over to the GRP, than vice-versa, you can still get clamped, but only after 3 hours AFAIK.

I'm on the phone, so not going to back this up with link. But its an offence under the RTA to interfere with a mechanically propelled vehical in a public place?

That also looks like a residential address. Go clamp his car and charge a release fee.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,155 ✭✭✭✭Berty

OP. It is well known that the clampers watch people entering and wait until they see them walk off the property, quickly clamp the car and then await you to cough up the money.

It IS well signposted that you cannot leave the car park. The reason for it is because people wander off into town and think they are getting to park for free.

Although, not always agreeing with clamping, in this car park it IS acceptable because it encourages people to obey their rules.

Don't bother appealing. You accepted the rules of the car park when you entered it and you shouldn't have put one step out of the car park.

    Harsh but true.

    Hi ,
Recently we moved to Galway and we car parked and went to Supermack and came to shop in Aldi in one hour the car was clamped,

I sat on the road near my car to positive parking protest the person threatened me that he will throw me and my trolley.
    My kids started crying.
Then my wife got scared and had to pay the fine 80 euro.
This is cheating in hard time.Want to appeal, please advise
    Thanks

You think it's outrageous that you got punished for abusing someone else's property? If you'd respected the wishes of the owner when using their car park then you wouldn't have been clamped. In fact, if everyone did then there would be no clampers.

you can say what you like anan1, but i parked in a nearly empty "car park" and let if for 30 min to go "across the road" then i got clamped.

An had to pay 80 to get it unclamped. It's not like i needed to but a ticket, i was watched from the moment i entered the car park...
Something about that seems wrong to me

Yup. Why shouldn't you have been, you broke their rules?

What, that they watched you and caught you breaking their rules?

Honestly, where does the sense of entitlement come from? It's not your car park, it belongs to someone else. If you don't like their rules don't park there.

You sue them in the courts. No such thing as an appeal to a non statutory body.

You break the rules on someone else's property, you're outraged when you get clamped, and you think i'm in your face because I don't buy into your victimhood? Be sure to explain that you have special rights in your appeal. :D

The above is a classic example of why private car parks need (regulated) clamping. Property owners simply can't rely on motorists to behave decently without the threat of sanction.

This is good idea to have business to trap family people on the name of private parking. The parking for trapping people.
i will suggest make toilet also as there are none of the side when the kids needed and had to cross the road.
Increase the fee this will create more jobs. Please check the place if it has radon which only spread cancer to society. Well done classic idea.,

    hej leaders :)

I´m a touri from germany and left the car in Galway Shopping Center for about 1 hours, came back and it was yellow clamped ^prima kann ich da nur sagen, wieder einen Kunden weniger, egal ob die Recht haben oder nicht, diese privaten Abzocker machen das nur einmal mit mir, and a customer less again :)

Galwey muss sehr reich sein, dass sie die Kunden so schnell verkraulen. Applaus! Dieses schreibe ich in Deutsch, damit ich andere Besucher vor der Bedrohung und Abzocke warnen kann.

    Old thread lock.
This is an English speaking forum and most tourists that visit have a good grasp of English.

Welcome back to Ireland/Galway but be careful when parking.
