    Try bikeinn (spanish site). They had the best prices when I was getting mine.

    The stainless steel model have better bearings and last much better than the cromoly version so worth the extra few quid.

    can i ask what the dislikes with the pedals were beasty? im having trouble with my hips and think i might be down to my look clips. i've swapped back to old school toe straps at the moment and its helping. heard about the speedplay pedals and am curious. think my problem is my feet want to tilt to the outside, if you know what i mean, so sounds like they might help. . maybe you could give me your thoughts too godihatedehills. cheers

    I liked the idea of a double-sided pedal for the fixie, but couldn't get used to them - clipping in was not as straightforward as I would have liked (although I am sure it would have come with practice), and quickly reverted to the Look Keo's (which I have on all my bikes)

    Beasty was kind enough to let me try them out & I experienced the same issues as him, very difficult to engage.

    cheers. thats good to know... its strange though. it kind of defeats the purpose of having a double sided pedal... might try some shims with my keo's instead. its either that or a pair of titanium hip replacements :D

    they require a bit of force to clip into....more than you'd expect, but Ive quickly gotten used to mine and dont really find it a problem......for what its worth.....

    hey mahoo - hope its ok to post this;

    maybe look at cleat set up? If shoes turning out could mean tight 'lateral' calf muscles and weak bum muscles causing knees to turn in.
    Saddle too high?

    Not sure if we alllowed to use names but i went to a guy that does 'pro' bike fitting and was amazing. Laser and computer set ups. My cleats were out, saddle way off and stem too long. PM me if its allowed??
    ps. heard same for speedplay, but over time heard its better than Keo?? :)

    my physio says i use my calves to much when i walk so they're always pretty tight. so bang on with that... i also have a problem with my groin muscle and i have enthesitis related arthritis, so you can take your pick of culprits!!.. might go for a bike fitting but im a bit wary.. i was 'fitted' for my new bike and think that was the start of my problems to be honest.. but i also started using clip pedals at the same time and think that is probably the main problem. put toe straps on for wednesday and hips were ok, put keo pedals back on yesterday and hips were burning after 15k. its really frustrating. was really fit 3 months ago but ive slowly lost it all... but thanks for the advice and feel free to PM me the name of the bike fitting people

    If anyone is following this just a quick post to say I've done 2 races, a spin and a session on the track and safe to say I'm a fully signed up member of the speedplay fan club. But that said, I've never liked look keos. I thought the discomfort was part and parcel of being clipped on to your pedals but the speedplays feel a hell of a lot more natural.

    I guess it will take a century to really see if they have an effect on my knee issues, but so far so good.

    Just as a word of caution, I came across this whilst researching some other issues:

    "...in my experience speedplays can be either real good or real bad for ITBS problems, depending on the individual, you may fall into the real bad category...The completely frictionless float [of the Speedplays] can put additional strain on your TFL (and the other stabilizing muscles for that matter) because it requires it to work a bit harder to control the rotation of your foot."

    Like with any change, it can take a while to adapt.

    thanks for the feedback guys. interesting article lumen. ive been reading up on ITBS for last hour. . interstingly, just before my problems started i got a foam roller and started using it for the ITB. maybe i overdid it and opened some can of worms in there. im off down to cork for a short cycling holiday now so ill see how i get on. going to take it slow and steady
