I've heard that if you take Commerce and Chinese, that you can drop Chinese after first year if you really don't like it. Is this the same with all languages? I'm thinking about Commerce and French but don't know what French will be like in 3rd level (assuming it's a massive step up) and don't want to be stuck with it for 4 years. So can I drop French after first year if I don't like it?

You can try and transfer from Commerce and French to a straight commerce degree but it is up to the department whether to accept the transfer or not. I've never heard of anyone being refused a transfer i must say

I did Commerce & French and in first year considered changing to straight commerce. There is a limit of ten people who are allowed to change from comm int. to straight commerce. It is the people who get the 10 best results, and if you have to do a repeat in August then you won't be able to transfer! The year I was in first year quite alot of people wanted to transfer so it isn't definite. If you have any questions about commerce and french, pm me if you like! Also, i would recommend doin it for erasmus :)
