Hi lads, Just got upc 12mb broadband there yesterday. We havent got the wireless cable modem. We just got the Scientific Atlanta.

I was just wondering should we order a wireless router from UPC or buy one elsewhere? If elsewhere, what would be the best option? The internet is only going to be used for the laptop and ps3 up in the attic.

We're looking for something in and around 50 euro

    Thanks

well ye see, you need to get information off UPC, about PPPoE password/ username or something similer, then you can get any router you like, a new router wont work without the UPC password/uername stuff. if its istalled recently you probly have it on a piece of paper/form. i would buy a linksys or belkin from argos for around 50e. then your sorted for ps3/ laptop, wish i could get upc,,,,,,,,,,, playin black ops on a 3G connection (LAG Ops)

No, you don't need any of that. What you need is any router, that's all. You're thinking of a DSL network, but a cable network is different. The modem that UPC supply cannot be replaced, and it takes care of the Internet connection for you.

Don't get a Belkin router, they are crap.
