Memory Card/Reader Problem

Hmm bit of a strange one  for some reason I haven't been able to figure out why my card that was previously been able to be picked up on my Macbook Pro is no longer working when it is inserted.

I have tried another card in it and it can be picked up and displayed no problem, when I attach my camera to my laptop via the USB cable the card that hasn't been able to be picked up can be seen and I can import that way, it doesn't show up on my desktop but will show up in Lightroom/iPhoto, I have also tried the card in my Windows desktop and it can be picked up and read from.

I have a new 13" Macbook Pro and this is the card that can no longer be read when inserted directly into the card reader.

I have tried going into Disk Utility to see if it is displayed with no luck and have formatted the card in my camera a couple of times and still no luck.

Any of you come across this before and maybe have some idea/solution of how to fix it, as I just like having the ease of swapping the card in and out and not having to be messing with cables as it would be the primary card that I would use.

The only suggestion I could think of is resetting the PRAM?

Does your MBP have a memory card reader built in ? There seems to be a lot of issues with these but a couple of people sorted it by leaving the card in while powering down then up their Mac. Also as suggested above resetting the PRAM has helped a few.

Open a terminal window and type:
    diskutil list

    and post the results here.

Another thing I would try is to create a new user account, log into it and see if the card mounts there.

Also be sure that you have enabled external drives to display on the desktop. From the Finder menu go to Preferences and ensure the "External Disks" option is enabled in the Sidebar section.

Yeah its an inbuilt card reader, popped in the card to power it down and up and the card appeared and ejected it and put it back in and nothing then tried the power up thing but nothing, as above not sure what PRAM is, settings are correct to displays drives.

Here is the output from the command you asked.
    /dev/disk0
       #: TYPE NAME SIZE IDENTIFIER
       0: GUID_partition_scheme *320.1 GB disk0
       1: EFI 209.7 MB disk0s1
       2: Apple_HFS Macintosh HD 319.7 GB disk0s2

Cheers folks appreciate any help :)

Seems to be working again :)

Didn't do anything other than install the new OS software update that is available, probably the solution was in there somewhere. Appreciate all the help folks.
